September’s city pattern

The department’s official release, published on 7 October, covers roadside monitoring from 1 through 30 September 2026 in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, Batumi and Rustavi. The total was 751 recorded cases. Tbilisi represented 430, followed by Kutaisi with 173, Batumi with 87 and Rustavi with 61.

The city split follows the department’s inspection activity in four urban areas. It gives residents a useful picture of where roadside enforcement was recorded, while the absolute number is best read with the monitoring scope alongside it.

Passenger cars were the largest vehicle group

Passenger-car drivers or owners accounted for 425 cases, more than half of the September total. Minibuses followed with 306, trucks with 18, and buses with 2.

The department says its crews work daily, use measuring instruments and receive periodic retraining. That operational detail matters for a car owner: the result describes the department’s recorded roadside cases.

The year-to-date line is already substantial

From January through September, the department recorded 6,856 cases of non-compliance. September’s 751 therefore represents 11.0% of the year-to-date total. The monthly figure adds a current reference point to the broader enforcement program, which has expanded its crew and location capacity.

A useful purchase and maintenance check

When comparing an older car, ask for a current inspection record and arrange an independent emissions check before completing the purchase. Pay attention to the exhaust system, catalytic converter and engine maintenance history. Checking the exhaust and engine systems makes the condition assessment more complete.
