Five Chains Raised at Least One Petrol Grade as September Opened

Five of seven chains lifted at least one regular, premium, or super price between 29 August and 5 September. The widest gap was GEL 0.46 per litre for super petrol.

The first September board split the market

The first September comparison shows a broad but uneven move. Wissol, Gulf, Socar, Rompetrol, and Lukoil raised at least one petrol grade. Connect and Portal held all three listed prices.

Premium recorded the largest average weekly move: +4.14 tetri per litre across the seven chains. Super followed at +3.86 tetri, with regular at +3.29 tetri.

Gulf's six-tetri increase in all three grades took effect on 3 September, according to its public price archive.

A three-week climb, with one clear holdout

Looking from 15 August to 5 September keeps each chain on the same practical grade grouping and shows where the divergence accumulated.

Six of seven chains raised at least one grade over the three-week window. Connect held all three grades throughout. Rompetrol's premium grade had the largest single chain-and-grade increase, at 16 tetri per litre.

The spread widened most at the top grade

On 5 September, the lowest listed price in each practical group was at Connect. Rompetrol posted the highest premium and super prices, while Gulf and Lukoil shared the highest regular price.

  • Super — Lowest listed price: GEL 3.90; Highest listed price: GEL 4.36; Spread per litre: 46 tetri; Difference for 50 litres: GEL 23.00

The super spread is more than three times the regular spread. For a driver choosing between the lowest and highest listed price in the same practical group, the difference on a 50-litre fill is therefore GEL 23 for super, versus GEL 7.50 for regular.

The four Saturday readings show the widening clearly: the regular/premium/super spreads were 10/10/38 tetri on 15 August and 15/19/46 tetri on 5 September. Chain grade names and formulations vary, so the comparison is a price map across practical market groups.

How to read the September divergence

Price increases were staggered. Five chains moved in the last weekly comparison, two held, and the size of each change differed by grade. Drivers faced different listed prices depending on their chosen chain and fuel grade.

For a like-for-like household budget, the 50-litre figures above provide the clearest translation. For a chain comparison, use the same practical grade, the same reading date, and the same retail-price convention. Discounts, loyalty offers, self-service prices, and different product formulations can change the amount paid at a particular station.
