Georgia’s car trade cooled while the wider export ledger grew
Geostat’s January–September 2026 trade release shows lower motor-car export and import values alongside faster growth in total exports.

The car line moved down while exports moved up
Geostat’s preliminary external-trade release, published on 19 October, puts January–September 2026 exports at $6,153.2 million, up 19.6% year on year. Motor-car exports were $1,529.3279 million, down from $2,003.9394 million in the same period of 2025. That is a 23.7% decrease. Cars still held the first place among export groups, but their share of total exports fell from 38.9% to 24.9%.

Imports also became smaller in value
Motor cars were the largest import group, at $2,652.0463 million. A year earlier the figure was $3,058.2846 million, so the decline was 13.3%. The share of total imports fell from 22.4% to 18.4%, even as overall imports increased 5.3% to $14,382.0 million.
The two directions therefore point in the same direction: fewer dollars were tied to the car trade than a year earlier, while other export and import groups took a larger role. Petroleum and petroleum oils, for example, reached $811.8083 million in exports and $1,407.1625 million in imports in the release.
What the market reading adds
On 25 October, the advertised AutoBridge stock contained 17,932 advertisements, with a median asking price of $14,300. This is an advertised-market reading alongside the national trade release. It helps a buyer or importer read the supply available now, while Geostat describes a nine-month customs-value ledger. The two measures answer different questions and should be read together when planning stock.
For an importer, the practical signal is composition. A plan built around last year’s car-export weight assumes the same mix will persist. The current release supports a more careful approach: monitor the vehicle profiles and destinations that are actually moving, price the working inventory in today’s offer, and update the mix as new monthly trade data arrive.
A useful reading for the next shipment
The release gives a broad trade-market direction. It shows that cars remain central to Georgia’s trade while their relative weight has fallen. Pairing that evidence with the current advertised stock can make a sourcing plan more responsive: set a base case from the national totals, then test it against asking prices, model years and clearance status in the available offer.
Preliminary national trade values meet a current asking-price reading.
