The pulse, in one paragraph

Between 1 and 7 August, 1,960 cars were newly listed in Georgia — the largest first-week figure in the comparable March–August series, ahead of June's 1,934 and 9.4% above July's 1,791. At the same time the median asking price dropped to $12,000, the lowest of those six windows, and the share of listings advertised before customs clearance rose to 60.0%.

This is a weekly series. Each issue compares the same calendar days across months, so month length and weekday mix cannot move the numbers.

More cars, cheaper cars — and those are the same story

The median fell by $1,800 in a month, but that is a statement about what got listed, not about sellers cutting prices. Three things moved together: the uncleared share rose 2.6 points to 60.0%, the share of listings at $25,000 or more fell 2.7 points to 16.4%, and the median model year slipped back from 2020 to 2019.

A week that adds more uncleared, older and cheaper stock will show a lower median even if no individual seller changes anything. To claim a price move rather than a mix move, you have to follow the same cars over time — a separate measurement, and not one this weekly window performs.

Share of new listings advertised before Georgian customs clearance.

The observed series, one window per month

March 1,298 · April 1,438 · May 1,698 · June 1,934 · July 1,791 · August 1,960. Volume has risen across the observed March–August series with a single dip in July, and August's first week recovered past June's level.

The uncleared share tells a different story from volume: 58.0% in March, 58.7% in April, then down to 54.9% and 54.6% in May and June, then back up to 57.4% in July and 60.0% now. On this measure, the market looks more import-weighted than at any point since we began the series.

What this measures

New listings are advertised supply appearing on the platforms we track — not imports, not registrations and not sales. Prices are what sellers ask, not what buyers pay. One week is one observation, and a single window is never a trend; the value of this series is in the accumulating comparison, not in any one issue.

Listings first published on days 1–7 of March through August under the canonical filter, database snapshot 10 August 2026. Asking prices, not transactions. Listings measure advertised supply, not registrations or sales. Correction, 11 August 2026: the comparison scope was clarified from all of 2026 to the six available March–August windows; January and February were not part of the series.

Methodology

Data Source

The AutoBridge listing database under the canonical analytics filter (passenger cars, not hidden, published from 1 March 2026, asking price of $2,000 or more), counting listings first published on days 1–7 of each month with status active, sold or archived.

Sample Size

1,960 listings first published 1–7 August 2026, compared with the calendar-equal window of every month since March. Comparing the same days of the month removes both month-length and weekday-mix effects. Detection is settled: the crawler records a new listing a median 0.26 days after its source publication date, 1.61 days at the 99th percentile, with 0.41% arriving later than three days.

Period

Windows of 1–7 March through 1–7 August 2026; database snapshot 10 August 2026.
