August in five numbers

Georgia's advertised car supply entered autumn with a smaller monthly flow and a modestly lower price midpoint. The second Listing Ledger brings together the same five measures used for July: new advertisements, median asking price, median model year, the share awaiting customs clearance, and the electric-car share among advertisements stating a fuel type.

  • New advertisements — July: 7,309; August: 6,653; Change: −9.0%
  • Median asking price — July: $13,700; August: $13,500; Change: −1.5%
  • Median model year — July: 2020; August: 2020; Change: Unchanged
  • Awaiting customs clearance — July: 58.4%; August: 55.2%; Change: −3.2 percentage points
  • Electric share of known-fuel ads — July: 5.0%; August: 4.8%; Change: −0.3 percentage points

Changes are calculated before rounding. The July and August figures in this edition were read on 6 September 2026.

Volume: the third consecutive decline after May

The monthly flow peaked at 8,289 advertisements in May, fell to 7,967 in June, then to 7,309 in July and 6,653 in August. August's total was 656 below July and 1,314 below June.

  • March — New advertisements: 6,450; Median asking price: $13,500; Median model year: 2019
  • April — New advertisements: 6,516; Median asking price: $13,900; Median model year: 2019
  • May — New advertisements: 8,289; Median asking price: $13,800; Median model year: 2019
  • June — New advertisements: 7,967; Median asking price: $13,700; Median model year: 2019
  • July — New advertisements: 7,309; Median asking price: $13,700; Median model year: 2020
  • August — New advertisements: 6,653; Median asking price: $13,500; Median model year: 2020

The late-summer slowdown leaves August close to March and April in the number of newly advertised cars. Its median model year, however, is one year newer. The offer arriving each month has changed in both size and vehicle profile.

Prices: a $200 step down inside a narrow six-month range

August's median ask fell $200 from July. At $13,500, it returned to the March level and remained inside the $400 range separating the lowest and highest monthly medians since March.

The larger movement is in volume: a 9.0% decline in new advertisements accompanied a 1.5% decline in the asking-price midpoint. Those measures answer different buyer questions. The first describes the number of new offers entering the market; the second locates the middle of their price distribution.

For a shopper with a roughly $13,500 budget, August's midpoint is familiar. Model, mileage, condition and customs costs still determine the alternatives available at that budget.

Vehicle age holds; the customs mix shifts

The median model year stayed at 2020 for a second month. July's step up from the 2019 midpoint therefore carried into August.

Customs status moved more sharply. 3,670 of August's 6,653 advertisements were awaiting clearance, a 55.2% share. July's corresponding count was 4,269 and its share was 58.4%. August was back near the 55.6–55.7% readings of June and May.

The remaining 2,983 August advertisements stated that the vehicle was customs-cleared. Buyers comparing the two groups face different purchase budgets: an uncleared asking price has to be read alongside the applicable clearance bill, while a cleared vehicle is already on the other side of that expense.

Electric share eases from July

August contained 219 electric-car advertisements, compared with 278 in July. Among advertisements stating a fuel type, the electric share edged down from 5.0% to 4.8%.

Fuel type was stated in 4,608 August advertisements, or 69.3% of the monthly total. July's coverage was 75.7%. The electric-share comparison is therefore specifically a reading of the known-fuel part of each month's offer.

August's 4.8% share remained above March's 4.1% and April's 4.4%. The latest month softened against July while preserving the broader spring-to-summer increase in the electric proportion of known-fuel advertisements.

The autumn starting point

The five measures describe a market offering fewer fresh advertisements at a slightly lower midpoint, with a stable median model year and a smaller uncleared share. For buyers, the useful distinction is between price and choice: the headline ask moved modestly, while the flow of new offers contracted more substantially.

The next monthly Ledger will show whether September extends that combination or brings a larger autumn replenishment.

August's electric share was 4.8% among the 4,608 advertisements stating a fuel type; fuel coverage was 69.3%.
