Four August Releases That Can Reset Georgia’s Auto-Market Picture
Geostat’s August calendar contains four releases with direct relevance to drivers, importers and transport companies: July CPI on 3 August, express trade data on 13 August, and both Q2 transport statistics and detailed July trade on 19 August. Preparing the questions now prevents headline-driven analysis later.
3 August: did transport inflation turn?
July CPI is the first scheduled release. June transport prices were 16.5% higher than a year earlier, including a 24% rise in the operation of personal transport.
The article should separate month-on-month direction from the annual rate and break out vehicle purchases, personal-transport operation and transport services. Reported July fuel reductions make the monthly component especially important, but they do not guarantee that the whole transport group fell.
13 August: the first July trade signal
Geostat’s express external-trade release will show total exports and imports for January–July and the July increment. It is useful for the macro headline but normally does not provide the complete vehicle-country and powertrain detail needed for a full AutoBridge report.
The correct publication on 13 August may therefore be a short note: what changed in total trade, whether motor cars remain the leading commodity where disclosed, and which questions must wait for 19 August.
19 August: Q2 transport statistics
The Main Indicators of Transport Statistics can add context that customs declarations cannot: freight and passenger activity across transport modes. The exact table set should be inspected on release day before promising specific variables.
Potential questions include whether road freight, rail, ports and aviation moved in the same direction; whether corridor activity accelerated in Q2; and whether vehicle-trade changes align with physical transport activity.
19 August: detailed July external trade
The detailed July release should update the HS 8703 series after the H1 reports. The priority comparisons are July versus June, year on year, sending countries, export destinations and powertrain categories where the table supports them.
AutoBridge must preserve the distinction between sending country and manufacturing origin, between customs value and retail price, and between same-period import/export flows and matched vehicle cohorts.
New listings per month
AutoBridge canonical set, 35,555 listings. July 2026 is partial (1–27 July) and is not comparable with the full months.
What our own series say before Geostat does
Geostat publishes monthly and with a lag; AutoBridge listing data updates daily. Three series belong next to every release in this calendar. New-listing volume ran 6,456, 6,533, 8,296, 7,991 and 6,279 from March to July, with July partial. The median asking price moved from $13,500 to $13,900, a 3.0% change. The share of listings that are not customs-cleared — some of which will be re-exported, though the flag alone does not prove it — ran between 55.7% and 59.0% without a trend.
The rule for using them is the same rule that applies to CPI. Ours is an asking-price and new-listing-flow measure, not a transaction or registration measure; where it leads Geostat it leads on timing, not on authority. When the two series disagree, the article's job is to name which question each one answers rather than to declare a winner.

Build the templates before the numbers arrive
For each release, prepare a frozen table with definitions, comparison periods and caveats. Insert values only after downloading the official file and record the query date because Geostat revises preliminary data.
This calendar can produce one short CPI reaction, one express-trade note and two deeper reports after 19 August. The editorial advantage is not publishing first; it is asking the right question before seeing the answer.
This is an editorial data calendar. It contains no unpublished August results and should be updated if Geostat changes the schedule. AutoBridge figures come from the canonical listing set (passenger cars, not hidden, published from 1 March 2026, asking price of $2,000 or more), snapshot of 27 July 2026. July is a partial month. Listings measure vehicles offered for sale, not vehicles registered, driven or sold.
