Half the market is white or black

Color is one of the simplest ways to see how Georgia's advertised car market concentrates. Among 15,158 advertisements, white accounts for 25.6% and black for 24.5%. Together, they form just over half of the market.

  • White — Ads: 3,873; Share: 25.6%; Median ask: $14,900
  • Black — Ads: 3,720; Share: 24.5%; Median ask: $14,536
  • Grey — Ads: 1,823; Share: 12.0%; Median ask: $14,000
  • Silver — Ads: 1,685; Share: 11.1%; Median ask: $14,500
  • Blue — Ads: 1,336; Share: 8.8%; Median ask: $12,900
  • Other — Ads: 1,303; Share: 8.6%; Median ask: $11,000
  • Red — Ads: 374; Share: 2.5%; Median ask: $11,500
  • Orange — Ads: 289; Share: 1.9%; Median ask: $11,700

The four neutral colors — white, black, grey, and silver — total 11,101 advertisements, or 73.2% of advertised stock. Blue is the largest named alternative.

Median asks reflect the mix of makes, years, and body styles inside each color cohort.

SUVs choose white; sedans choose black

The neutral share is almost identical in the two largest body-style cohorts, but their leading color differs.

  • SUV — Ads: 5,061; Neutral share: 74.3%; Most common color: White
  • Sedan — Ads: 4,881; Neutral share: 75.2%; Most common color: Black
  • Hatchback — Ads: 520; Neutral share: 57.3%; Most common color: White
  • Coupe — Ads: 401; Neutral share: 67.3%; Most common color: White
  • Minivan — Ads: 333; Neutral share: 76.6%; Most common color: White
  • Wagon — Ads: 292; Neutral share: 69.5%; Most common color: White
  • Crossover — Ads: 203; Neutral share: 67.0%; Most common color: Black

Minivans have the highest neutral share among the named body styles at 76.6%, though their 333-ad cohort is much smaller.

Hatchbacks carry the widest color opening

Hatchbacks stand 17.0 percentage points below SUVs and 17.9 points below sedans on the neutral-color measure. That leaves 42.7% of hatchback advertisements in blue, red, orange, green, gold, and other color categories.

For buyers who prioritize a less common color, the hatchback cohort therefore offers a broader share of alternatives. For sellers of a colorful hatchback, the car faces fewer direct visual substitutes than a white SUV or black sedan, although demand and resale outcomes require separate evidence.

How to use the color map

Color can narrow a search, but it should sit behind condition. A useful inspection order is:

  • confirm that every body panel has the same shade and finish;
  • look for overspray, mismatched texture, and differences under consistent light;
  • compare paint-meter readings where repair history matters;
  • check the registered color in the documents;
  • only then use rarity or preference as a tie-breaker.

The market map gives buyers a baseline. Neutral colors dominate almost every large body category, while hatchbacks provide the clearest opening for shoppers who want something else.

Neutral colors form 73.2% of advertised stock, but the share falls to 57.3% among hatchbacks.
